Pes Planovalgus
Aetiology
- Common Condition related to generalized ligamentous laxity.
- Affects 20% of adults.
- The medial arch develops by 7 years old.
Clinical Features
| Feature | Description |

| Valgus Heel | Outward heel tilt. |
| Loss of Medial Arch | The arch flattens when weight-bearing. |
| Corrects With | Tiptoeing, dorsiflexion of the first ray (Jacks test), and while non-weight bearing. |
| Rarely Symptomatic | Can sometimes cause issues due to impingement, excessive laxity, or tight Achilles tendon. |

Imaging
- X-Ray shows a negative (apex plantar) Meary’s angle.
Management
Non-operative in most cases.
- UCBL Rigid Arch Supports: Provides medial hindfoot support.
- Soft Arch Supports: Used for athletic activities.
- Achilles Stretching: Beneficial for symptom relief.
Surgical intervention is rare and may involve osteotomy, tendon transfer, or fusion.
